How does Tastes Collect Personal Details?

In order to set up an account or make a purchase from the online deli, you will be asked to provide us with some personal information (including your name, address, telephone number and email address).
When you set up an account or place an order you will also be given the option to receive further information from us in the future. If you agree to this we will send no more than one email per month. You can change your email preferences at any time by logging into your account or by contacting us. Each email we send will include a reminder of how to unsubscribe and all unsubscribe requests will be processed within ten working days (or within 24 hours if submitted via the "My Account" page of this web site).
When you visit our site we automatically log your IP address, your browser type and your access times. We use this information to conduct site performance evaluations, to see where visitors are coming from and to keep track of which pages are viewed.
We may also collect other information, such as your feedback on products you have bought from us.

How does Tastes Use and Store Personal Details?

All details collected are stored and used in accordance with the Data Protection Act. Your details are only used for the purpose given when collected.
Your name is used to personalise the delicatessen to enable us to welcome you back or address you in any emails we send.
Your address, telephone number and email address are used solely to fulfil your order unless your prior consent is explicitly given. Without your consent, this information will NEVER be sold, given, rented or traded to others for purposes other than order fulfilments. Your information will only be disclosed where we are obliged or permitted by law or where it is necessary for us to fulfil your order.
We may correct or supplement your address information, for example adding the Post Code, in order to ensure that your orders are delivered.
If you choose to submit product reviews we will store these reviews and may display them on the web site.
If you choose to use the Tell a Friend service we will ask you for your friend's name and email address. We will automatically send your friend a one-off email inviting them to visit the site. We do not store this information and use it for the sole purpose of sending this one-off email.
For security purposes we keep a record of the IP address from which certain activities (such as password requests or orders) take place.

What is a Cookie?

A cookie (in this context) is a small amount of data that is sent to you from a web site and stored on your computer's hard drive. It is a short string of text and numbers which can be interpreted by the web site that gave you the cookie.

Why and How does Tastes Use Cookies?

We use cookies in the online deli part of the web site to enable you to register, log in and use the shopping cart and to enable us to monitor the site.
The cookie we use is a session cookie containing just an ID number which identifies the visitor to the store, as separate from other visitors. No personal information is stored or tracked with cookies. This is used in our online shop to temporarily store information, such as the contents of your shopping basket. The cookie is essential to the operation of the shop, without it you will not be able to add items to your shopping basket. This cookie is only valid for your session and is deleted when you close your browser.
You can turn off, or delete, cookies by following the instructions below, but will be unable to make any purchases from the online deli. You can instead place your order by telephone.
Social bookmarking tools are used on the site, for example to enable you to "like" products via facebook. If you have already logged in, these sites may have already set cookies in your browser and if so our site may read these cookies, but will not add to or update them. As we are not setting these cookies, their use is not covered by our privacy policy, but instead by the site which sets then, such as facebook.

How can I Disable Cookies?

If you're using Internet Explorer 7.0 or 8.0:

  • Click the Privacy tab, and then move the slider to the level of privacy you prefer.

  • Check the 'override automatic cookie handing' box and select Accept, Block or Prompt for action as appropriate.

  •  Click the Security tab.
  • Click on Custom Level.
  • Scroll down to the sixth option to see how cookies are handled by IE5 and change to Accept, Disable, or Prompt for action as appropriate.
If you're using Internet Explorer 4.0:
  • Choose View, then Internet Options.
  • Click the Advanced tab.
  • Scroll down to the yellow exclamation icon under Security and choose one of the three options to regulate your use of cookies.
If you're using Google Chrome:
  • On your Task Bar, click on Customise and control Google Chrome (the spanner on the right at the top)
  • Choose Options.
  • Click on the Under the Hood tab.
  • Under Cookie Settings, select Block all cookies.
If you're using Netscape Navigator 6.0 or 7.0:
  • On your Task Bar, click: Edit, then Preferences.
  • Click on Advanced.
  • Click on Cookies.

How Can I Delete Cookies?

If you are using a version of Internet Explorer before version 7.0 there will be a folder on your computer called "cookies". You can use your file management software to find the folder and delete the contents. Our cookies will have the file names such as zenid.txt.

If you delete our cookies or disable future cookies you may not be able to make any purchases from our online deli. You can instead place your order by telephone.
