Nunez de Prado is an unfiltered, organic blend of handpicked Andalucian picul, picudo and hojiblanca olives. Strong and peppery.
Nestled in the heart of the Andalusian region of Spain, the family's olive estates have been producing premium-quality extra virgin olive oil since 1795. Rather than beating the trees and collecting fallen olives, the Nunez de Prado olives are picked by hand when the fruit has turned from purple to black and is ripe and firm. It takes up to 20 minutes to harvest an olive tree using a gentle action to detach the olives without bruising them (which increases the acidity of the oil). The olives are taken immediately to the antique mill where they are crushed and the oil (Flor de Aceite) allowed to drip out naturally. It takes eleven kilos of olives to make one kilo of Flor de Aceit ("Flower of the Oil") as opposed to five kilos for a "normal" pressed oil.
This re-sealable tin is excellent value for an incredible oil and protects the oil from the damaging effects of light.

Olive Oil Times in December 2011. The beautiful, 700 hectare, olive grove in Andalusia and classical mill is open to visitors. For more information see the
