A delicious prize-winning, polyfloral honey from Glynis' garden in Ascot. It is extracted using a radial extractor so no heat treatment is necessary. The wax cappings are cut off the frames of sealed honey taken off the hive, 9 frames at a time are placed in the extractor (a drum about the size of a dustbin) and spun around until they are empty. The honey is strained to remove any comb or wax and then put into jars.

This method ensures the honey retains the pollen grains, deemed to help with allergies and hay fever. The colour and viscosity of the honey depends entirely upon what plants and trees the bees have gathered their nectar and pollen from. Adjacent hives will often produce very different colours and flavours. That is the joy or eating honey from hobby beekeepers - the flavour varies but it is always delicious!
